Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

CERN is the worlds largest particle physics laboratory and its flagship accelerator the Large Hadron Collider depends on having an unrivalled set of cryogenic systems on hand to guarantee reliable operation. New large-scale cryogenic infrastructure interfacing with existing machines and cryogenic distribution lines will be required.
The Cryogenics Group (CRG) in the Technology Department (TE) is responsible for the design construction commissioning operation and maintenance of cryogenic systems for accelerators and detectors as well as for cryogenic test facilities. The group also supports low-temperature developments and tests at the Central Cryogenic Laboratory which provides expertise in cryogenic design and instrumentation.

As Mechanical Engineer in the Technology Department (TE) Cryogenics Group (CRG) Mechanical and Engineering support section (ME) and as a member of the Project Team for the Cryogenic Distribution System of the HL-LHC project your functions will include:
Organising the installation of complex cryogenic equipment. Preparing and managing the corresponding quality controls and documentation;
Contributing to project management activities and quality assurance;
Masters degree or PhD or equivalent relevant experience in the field of mechanical engineering or a related field.

Contributing to the management of industrial projects including planning coordination of installation and commissioning activities and interaction with suppliers and contractors;
Knowledge and application of manufacturing methods and work preparation including definition process preparation planning drawing and control.
Project management: including knowledge of tools and methods.
Achieving results: being rigorous and producing quality results at first attempt; Spoken and written English with a commitment to learn French.
Interventions in underground installations.
Work during nights Sundays and official holidays when required by the needs of the Organization.
Operations on electrical installations or in their vicinity (over 1000 Volt AC or 1500 Volt DC) requiring a specific authorization.
