About the opportunity

Our client is an organisation operating in a complex and highly regulated environment.

We are looking for a Compliance to support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the organisation’s compliance framework.

This role will cover compliance monitoring, risk assessment, policy development, regulatory requirements, internal controls, training, investigations and stakeholder advisory support. The successful candidate will help promote a strong culture of ethical conduct, accountability and regulatory compliance.

The role involves working closely with senior leaders, legal, risk, finance, operations, internal audit and other business functions in a fast-paced, multicultural and highly controlled environment.

Key responsibilities

Compliance framework and policy management

• Support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the organisation’s compliance framework.

• Maintain and update compliance policies, procedures, standards, guidance and supporting documentation.

• Monitor regulatory and legislative developments relevant to the organisation’s activities.

• Assess the impact of new and changing compliance requirements and recommend appropriate actions.

• Ensure that compliance requirements are communicated clearly across relevant teams.

• Support the implementation of codes of conduct, conflict of interest processes and ethical standards.

Compliance risk assessment and monitoring

• Identify, assess and monitor compliance risks across business activities, processes and third-party relationships.

• Contribute to compliance risk assessments, control reviews and risk mitigation plans.

• Develop and maintain compliance monitoring plans and testing methodologies.

• Perform compliance reviews, thematic assessments and control testing.

• Document findings, assess root causes and recommend practical corrective actions.

• Track remediation activities and report progress to relevant stakeholders.

• Prepare compliance dashboards, reports and management information.

Regulatory compliance and internal controls

• Provide day-to-day advice on regulatory compliance, internal controls and business processes.

• Support compliance with applicable laws, regulations, industry standards and internal requirements.

• Review processes and controls relating to areas such as anti-bribery and corruption, anti-money laundering, sanctions, fraud prevention, data protection and conflicts of interest, as applicable.

• Work with business teams to strengthen control design and operational effectiveness.

• Support the preparation for regulatory reviews, internal audits and external assurance activities.

• Maintain accurate and auditable records of compliance activities and decisions.

Compliance investigations and incident management

• Support the assessment and management of suspected compliance breaches, incidents and policy violations.

• Assist with investigations, including evidence gathering, interviews, analysis and documentation.

• Escalate material issues and potential breaches in accordance with established procedures.

• Prepare investigation summaries, recommendations and remediation plans.

• Help identify trends, control weaknesses and opportunities to prevent recurrence.

• Maintain confidentiality and apply appropriate professional judgment when handling sensitive matters.

Training and compliance culture

• Support the development and delivery of compliance training and awareness programmes.

• Provide guidance to colleagues on policies, procedures, regulatory obligations and ethical conduct.

• Develop communications and learning materials for different audiences.

• Promote a culture of transparency, accountability and responsible decision-making.

• Monitor training completion and report on compliance awareness activities.

Stakeholder engagement and advisory support

• Build effective working relationships with senior stakeholders and teams across the organisation.

• Provide clear, practical and risk-based compliance advice to business functions and project teams.

• Work closely with legal, risk management, internal audit, finance, procurement, information security and operational colleagues.

• Support due diligence and compliance assessments relating to suppliers, partners, intermediaries and other third parties.

• Contribute to compliance projects, process improvements and organisational change initiatives.

• Represent the compliance function in relevant meetings, working groups and governance forums.

Candidate profile

Essential requirements

• University degree in Law, Compliance, Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.

• Relevant professional qualification or certification in compliance, risk, audit, legal or a related discipline.

• Approximately 5 years of relevant experience in compliance, risk management, internal audit, legal, governance or a related function.

• Experience developing, implementing or monitoring compliance frameworks, policies and internal controls.

• Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance principles and risk-based compliance management.

• Experience conducting compliance risk assessments, monitoring activities or control testing.

• Experience supporting investigations, incident management or remediation activities.

• Ability to interpret legislation, regulations and internal policies and translate requirements into practical guidance.

• Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex compliance matters clearly.

• High level of integrity, discretion and professional judgment.

• Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information appropriately.

• Ability to work collaboratively across functions and levels of seniority.

• A proactive, pragmatic and solution-oriented approach.

• Excellent command of English.

Desirable experience

• Experience in an international organisation, regulated industry, financial services institution, multinational company or similarly complex environment.

• Knowledge of anti-bribery and corruption, anti-money laundering, sanctions, fraud risk, data protection or third-party compliance.

• Experience working with compliance management systems, governance, risk and compliance platforms or data analysis tools.

• Experience preparing reports for senior management, audit committees or other governance bodies.

• Experience designing and delivering compliance training and awareness programmes.

• Experience with regulatory inspections, internal audits or external assurance reviews.

• Knowledge of international regulatory frameworks and cross-border compliance requirements.

• Professional certification such as ICA, ACAMS, CCEP, CRCM, CIA, ACCA or equivalent is an asset.

• Knowledge of additional languages is an asset.
