Your responsibilities

As a Mechanical Technician, you will join the Beams (BE)department. Your future team, the High Precision Alignment technologies team, works in the Geodetic and Metrology group .

In the frame of the Full Remote Alignment System project (FRAS) , you will work on the design, procurement, assembly, installation and commissioning of the mechanical components.

Specifically, you will:

Follow-up the design including the update of 3D models and update/preparation of manufacturing drawings;
Participate in the procurement process of several sub-components, including quality assurance;
Participate in the commissioning of the equipment from a sub-component level to the full FRAS installation;
Assemble the different components, at our mechanical workshop and then in real conditions on a large-scale test setup.

Your profile

Skills and/or knowledge

Experience with CAD systems such as CATIA for the creation of 3D models/assemblies and 2D technical drawings;
Experience in assembling and testing of mechanical systems;
Good communication, well-organized with accountability;
Ability to work in team as well as independently;
Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.

Eligibility criteria:

You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State .
By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Mechanical technician Design & assembly (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is a general secondary education diploma .
You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
Applicants with a Bachelors, Masters or PhD degree are not eligible.

Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.

This position requires:

Stand-by duty, when required by the needs of the Organization.
