Your responsibilities

Development of new materials and optimization of existing materials
Ability to learn new areas of materials science and bring newly acquired skills in practise
Customer-related project work with tight schedules
Customer communication and ability to present complex topics to generic audience
Cultivating the internal chemical compliance system for monitoring and replacing of chemical substances (e.g. according to REACH)
Keeping close contact to material suppliers, and monitoring the market for new materials
Design of test methods and testing of materials in accordance with the chemical compliance, and customer requirements, creating a pipeline of back-up material solutions
Lead independently complex material and surface treatment development projects
Using broad technical know-how and materials expertise contribute other teams in R&D, engineering and advanced technologies in mutual development projects
Contributing to a culture of innovation by actively generating novel concepts and enhancements for materials and surface treatment, by identifying relevant trends, technical developments and translating these into internal innovation projects
Cross-functional collaboration at site level and alignment with global teams
Document work in detailed project reports and pursue lessons learnt from topics alike
Strive for excellence

Our requirements

A university degree in natural science or engineering in the fields of chemistry, materials science, polymers or chemical engineering
Strong background in one or more of following fields: elastomers, nanomaterials, thermoplastics, surface chemistry, or analytical chemistry
10+ years of experience in similar industries
Proficiency in writing detailed technical reports
Willingness to travel globally to support customers and other teams
Adaptability, constructive, team-player, open-minded, innovative, committed, communicative and well structured, with the ability to work independently
Fluent in English (with strong verbal and written communication skills), German is an advantage
