Org. Setting and ReportingThe International Trade Centre (ITC) mandate is: \"Transforming trade. Changing lives.\" By enabling trade-led economic development, especially in the Global South, ITC enables small businesses to reach their potential and strengthens ecosystems for long-term impact. This position is located within the ITC Office for Africa (OA) under the Division of Country Programmes (DCP). DCP/OA leads ITC\u2019s work in Africa. As part of its mandate, OA coordinates ITC\u2019s technical assistance at country, (sub)regional and continental levels. OA\u2019s work includes collecting and analyzing country and regional intelligence, designing, managing, and coordinating projects and programmes, engaging stakeholders, developing partnerships, mobilizing resources, and representing ITC in various fora including at senior levels. The Guin\u00e9e: Programme d\u2019appui \u00e0 l\u2019emploi par le d\u00e9veloppement du secteur priv\u00e9 et \u00e0 l\u2019industrie (TRANSFORM) project aims to support Guinean businesses that process agricultural and fisheries products. The Botswana: Green value chain development for job creation programme aims to diversify Botswana\u2019s economy and create decent jobs by strengthening the competitiveness of the ecotourism and horticulture sectors.

ResponsibilitiesUnder the direct supervision of Programme Managers, and the overall guidance of the Chief Office for Africa, the Associate Programme Officer will be responsible for the following duties: \u2022 Carries out basic research on selected aspects of programmes, operations and other activities, including collecting, analyzing and presenting statistical data and other information gathered from diverse sources. \u2022 Assists in performing consulting assignments, in collaboration with the client, by planning facilitating workshops, through other interactive sessions and assisting in developing the action plan the client will use to manage the change. \u2022 Contributes to the drafting and consolidation on key project deliverables, including annual implementation reports, technical reports, core project documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with donor requirements \u2022 Provides administrative and substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying and proposed participants, preparation of background documents and presentations, handling logistics, etc. \u2022 Undertakes outreach activities; participates in the development of training workshops, seminars, etc.; participates in and makes presentations on assigned topics/activities. \u2022 Participates in field missions, including provision of substantive and administrative support, data collection, etc. \u2022 Coordinates activities related to budget funding (programme/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements, etc.) and preparation of related documents/reports (pledging, work programme, programme budget, etc.). \u2022 Performs other duties as required.

EducationAdvanced university degree (Master\u2019s degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics, development studies, or a related field. A first-level university degree in combination with an additional 2 years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work ExperienceA minimum of two years (four years with an advanced degree) of progressively responsible experience in project/programme management, or related area is required. Minimum one year experience working on projects supporting SMEs and trade in Sub-Saharan Africa is desirable.
