PhD-Stelle: Festkörperreaktionen in komplexen Dünnschichtarchitekturen
Wir suchen eine Kandidatin/einen Kandidaten zur Entwicklung neuartiger Materialien für die On-Chip-Wärmeübertragung und Selbstheilung im Labor für Nanometallurgie an der ETH Zürich. Das Projekt konzentriert sich auf die Schnittstelle von Nanofabrikation, Festkörperreaktionen und Nicht-Gleichgewichts-Thermodynamik. Unsere Forschung reicht von nanoskaligen Materialien und optischen Metamaterialien bis hin zur Mechanik hierarchischer und biologischer Materialien. Wir streben an, Materialien mit beispiellosen Eigenschaften zu schaffen, indem wir die Struktur auf atomarer und Nanometerskala kontrollieren.
Stellenbeschreibung
- Materialdesign: Entwicklung und Charakterisierung hierarchischer Materialien, die eine lokalisierte On-Chip-Wärmeübertragung und autonome Reparatur (Selbstheilung) ermöglichen
- Nanofabrikation: Einsatz fortschrittlicher Reinraumtechniken zur Herstellung von Strukturen auf Nanometer- und Atomskala
- Grundlagenforschung: Untersuchung der Physik von Festkörperreaktionen
- Experimentelle Analyse: Einsatz hochauflösender Mikroskopie und thermischer Charakterisierungsmethoden zur Validierung der Materialleistung und strukturellen Integrität
Profil
- Masterabschluss in Materialwissenschaften, Physik, Maschinenbau oder einem ähnlichen Fach
- Fundiertes Verständnis der Materialsynthese, Struktur-Eigenschafts-Beziehungen und Transportphänomene
- Praktische Erfahrung mit nanoskaliger Charakterisierung, z. B. FIB, XRD oder TEM, ist ein grosser Vorteil
- Zusätzliche Erfahrung in der Finite-Elemente-Modellierung (FEM) oder Molekulardynamik (MD) wäre von Vorteil
- Sehr gute Englischkenntnisse in Wort und Schrift sind unerlässlich
