Senior Product Manager - Upstream Marketing - 6-Month Contract

Job Description ONWARD Medical is looking for an experienced Senior Product Manager Upstream Marketing to join our team on a 6-month contract and play a key role in shaping the evolution of our product portfolio. This role comes at an exciting stage for ONWARD as we build on the early commercialization of our first therapy while advancing new indications, next-generation solutions, and new software and digital capabilities. The Senior Product Manager will bring a strong customer and market perspective to product development and lifecycle decisions, translating insights from people living with spinal cord injury (SCI), healthcare professionals, customers, and the broader market into clear product strategies, requirements, and priorities. Working closely with RD, Clinical, Regulatory, Quality, Medical Affairs, Commercial, and other functions, this individual will help ensure our current and future solutions address meaningful unmet needs and deliver differentiated value to the SCI community. Responsibilities Own the voice of the customer and market by engaging regularly with KOLs, healthcare professionals, patients, clinical and sales teams to identify customer needs, unmet needs, market trends, and emerging opportunities. Translate customer, clinical, market, and competitive insights into clear product strategy and user requirements, to inform product development and clinical research strategies. Capture and synthesize early commercial learnings and translate them into lifecycle priorities, product enhancements, and future product requirements. Develop and refine product strategies and value propositions, including positioning, differentiation, target product profiles, and strategic direction for new products, indications, and capabilities. Support business case development, forecasting inputs, product prioritization, and portfolio recommendations for future opportunities. Define and communicate a multi-year product roadmap with foresight, ensuring strategic alignment across RD, Clinical, Regulatory, and Commercial stakeholders. Drive alignment across cross-functional stakeholders on product priorities and key development decisions. Communicate market insights, product recommendations, and strategic rationale effectively to cross-functional teams and senior leadership. Ensure strong alignment between upstream product strategy and downstream Marketing, Medical Education, Clinical, Regulatory, and Commercial teams. Quickly take ownership of priority initiatives and drive tangible deliverables within the six-month assignment. Experience, Qualifications Skills Master’s degree in engineering, life sciences, biomedical sciences, business, marketing, or a related field; an advanced degree (MBA, MSc, or equivalent) is a plus. 5+ years of Product Management and/or Upstream Marketing experience within medical devices, medtech, digital health, or a related healthcare environment. Demonstrated experience in upstream marketing, new product development, and product lifecycle management. Demonstrated ability to translate Voice of Customer, KOL, and market insights into product strategy, user requirements, and target product profiles. Experience engaging directly with Key Opinion Leaders, healthcare professionals, patients, and clinical/sales teams. Experience working closely with RD and multidisciplinary product development teams. Proven ability to operate in cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities. Strong understanding of medical device development and commercialization in a regulated environment. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
