About Our Client

Our client is a niche asset manager with a strong track record located in Zurich. Due to their expansion plans they are looking for a pragmatic, hands-on Legal & Compliance Director to oversee its Legal & Compliance department.

Job Description

• Design and execute the legal and compliance strategy, maintaining controls, regulatory registers incidents and remediation tracking.
• Lead AML & KYC across client and investor onboarding, including sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, and escalation of suspicious activity.
• Ensure end-to-end regulatory compliance with Swiss FINMA requirements and coordinate governance funds including fund structuring.
• Act as a trusted legal and commercial advisor, drafting and negotiating, distribution and trading agreements, documentation and commercial contracts.
• Drive legal strategy and execution for fundraising initiatives, leading investor negotiations and facilitating the successful conversion of prospective investors.
• Oversee cross-border distribution and marketing controls, including EU distribution rules, target market/suitability assessments, and marketing material reviews.
• Serve as the main point of contact for regulators, auditors, and external counsel, managing regulatory interactions and audits with confidence.

The Successful Applicant

• University degree in Law, further education is an advantage
• 10-15 years of experience in legal and compliance roles within an asset management or preferably in a private equity firm
• Hands-on experience working with Luxembourg fund structures, combined with solid, practical exposure to Swiss FINMA regulation.
• Solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to draft and negotiate complex agreements while applying sound, pragmatic risk judgment.
• Demonstrated leadership capability, including managing small teams
• A strong team player with interpersonal skills and to engage with internal stakeholders, regulators and external parties.
• Fluency in German and English are a must have.
