Legal Counsel

Meent is supporting the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in the recruitment of its Legal Counsel on a permanent contract.

Founded on 14 April 1900 in Paris, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is the world governing body for cycling. Its mission is to develop and oversee cycling in all its forms and for everyone, whether as a competitive sport, a healthy recreational activity, a means of transport or simply for enjoyment.

The UCI also promotes its own events, including the UCI Road World Championships, its flagship annual event, as well as numerous other World Championships and World Cups across the various cycling disciplines. Its headquarters are located at the UCI World Cycling Centre in Aigle, Switzerland.

Position:

• Contract management: drafting and reviewing commercial agreements (sponsorship, media rights and licensing agreements) and contracts related to UCI events (hosting agreements, service provider agreements);
• Insurance programme management: reviewing insurance coverage related to UCI events and managing insurance claims;
• Managing the UCI’s trademark protection programme, including the UCI logo and rainbow trademarks;
• Managing debt recovery proceedings;
• Drafting, reviewing and updating regulations relating to the UCI’s various cycling disciplines;
• Managing publications and filings with the Commercial Register for the UCI and the UCI World Cycling Centre;
• Conducting legal research and drafting various legal documents, including legal opinions;
• Working closely with other UCI departments, providing advice on the application of regulations and the management of disputes involving cycling stakeholders;
• Supporting the Legal Manager on a variety of legal matters.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Law; qualification to practise as a lawyer would be an asset;
• At least 3 years of professional experience in a legal role;
• Full professional proficiency in French and English, both written and spoken;
• Previous professional experience in the sports industry would be an asset;
• Strong analytical and synthesis skills;
• Ability to communicate and share information effectively;
• Organised, rigorous and able to work effectively under pressure;
• Strong ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines;
• Strong sense of service and confidentiality;
• Team player;
• Proficiency in IT tools;
• Interest in cycling and sport in general.
